I know of no safe depository of the ultimate powers of the society but with the people themselves; and if we think them not enlightened enough to exercise their control with a wholesome discretion, the remedy is not to take power from them, but to inform their discretion through instruction.-Thomas Jefferson (1820)
As citizens of the United States, we are increasingly affected by world affairs. In the decades since World War II, we have been witnesses to enormous changes across the globe. The demise of the old Soviet Union, independence and revolution, the ever increasing development of nuclear energy, a declining opinion of our nation's government as the protector of freedom, and the ever increasing number of changing political events world wide are just a sample. Americans, therefore, need an understanding of the peoples and forces that have and continue to shape our world.
As an academic institution, it is important to remember that our classroom wiki is not intended to be your facebook page. Misuse can not be tolerated and will be viewed negatively.
